food for thought

Founded in 1996 with a piece of chalk, a humble chalkboard and a man called cheese.

Through working with innovative food and drink operators

...we have progressed into a forward thinking design based business with an eye for communication through signage, branding, interior styling and a variety of printed media.

We transform mundane spaces into creative environments that your customers want to be seen in.

Practical, cost effective and smart solutions.

Identity and brand development with a practical nod towards how this communicates through signage, digital media and print.

An eye for detail to design and craft signage using a range of materials and media. All of our work is totally bespoke and is always sympathetic to the brand and to the surroundings alike.

Large interior backdrops, unique fixtures & fittings, bespoke furniture pieces, bar & counter design, all the way to 'fit out' managment.

the chalk & the cheese

Neil Cheesewright

I have been working within design, signage and print for over 20 years and founded Chalk and Cheese Design in 1996. I have worked in various areas of commercial design and have project managed many large scale projects from drawing board to build and install. I am passionate on how a two dimensional design can be enhanced and developed to a more tangible, three dimensional format through signage and bespoke display pieces. I am a keen runner, new to marathon running, play hockey and coach junior cricket at my local club.

"I love to design, taking ideas from scratch through to a finished product, be it a simple business card to a big branding project. Outside of the studio I’m very interested in art, going to galleries and museums, taking pictures along the way and improving my photography skills. Another big passion is music, listening, seeing and creating!"
